What to bring

This is an important advice you should take care before come to Peru!
getting ready to travel

Participants should bring:

  • All needed personal prescription medications, to include those recommended for travelers to Peru.
  • Flashlight / extra batteries.
  • Padlock for your luggage.
  • Insect repellent (as an example: more than 30% DEET, and water/sweat proof), sunscreen, and personal toiletries, including antibacterial soap.
  • A ½ liter wide-mouth bottle for drinking water is very handy.
  • Lightweight clothing is advised, as daytime high temperatures may exceed 32° C (90° F).
  • A T-shirt and shorts (or, even better, thin cotton long pants) are a standard attire. Relative humidity is very high and rainfall is frequent (several times a day during March - May). As prevention you can bring a cloth for cold time too, including long sleeve shirts.
  • Bring a waterproof hat with a wide brim (for sun protection).
  • A thin waterproof poncho.
  • Waterproof sandals, you can bring an old pair of sneakers or high boots for walking in the mud (you can buy them here too).
  • Small binoculars might be useful.
  • Don’t forget camera; developing services are available in Iquitos.

We are looking forward to your participation. The program you are about to join will touch the lives of hundreds of families. You will have the opportunity to use your education and learn from the people who are our rainforest conservers.
